Dr. Omar Morell

Dr. Omar decided he wanted to open and lead his own dental practice right out of school, which is fairly uncommon in the dental world—most work as an associate for a few years before going out on their own. He’s the type of person who always bets on himself, and he knew his older sister, Dr. Diana would be the perfect partner. Now, he’s thrilled to serve the community as a dentist in Miami and make it easy for locals to get the high-quality services they need right in their home neighborhood.

Why Did You Become a Dentist?

Growing up, Dr. Omar was told by multiple dentists that he needed corrective jaw surgery to align his teeth, but an orthodontist was eventually able to help just by having him wear a small oral appliance. The overall experience was really illuminating and interesting, and this is what first piqued his interest in dentistry. He also liked the idea of becoming a dentist because it would give him the opportunity to help people just like himself.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Omar graduated from Florida International University before earning his dental doctorate from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (aka LECOM). Even though he has been out of school for years, he says that his education has never ended. To date, he has completed many continuing education courses, especially ones focused on advanced services such as bone regeneration, dental implants, and third molar (wisdom tooth) extractions.

Outside of the Office, What Do You Like to Do?

At home, Dr. Omar has a wife, an infant son, and a dog named Duke waiting for him. As an avid learner, he is perpetually reading, but he also likes to run, lift weights, and take nature walks (especially at the beach) to stay active. He is also a big basketball fan who has played in multiple rec leagues and is always happy to cheer on the Heat.
